DIASILLA

Born out of the deep connection with the mountains of their small home town, Fiuminata, in central Italy, DIASILLA presents itself as a true ritual that eradicates the more experimental expressiveness of the two artists.

A narrative generated by the evocative sound of wind instruments and the electronic processing of traditional sounds from Marche region, shortens the distance between an ancient and vibrant past and an evocative and nostalgic present.

The music resulting from this combination of artists is a ritual that pays homage to tradition within an extremely contemporary and at times experimental framework. Timbre, sound, sensations, density and spatiality are the keywords of this project.

Although originally distant musically, both are united by their homeland and sound experimentation aimed at finding new timbres. The live show is very varied and includes both the use of trombone, trumpet and live electronics (with pedal board) by Paggi, and live electronics and effects by Stella. The ancestral sounds belong to a past handed down from generation to generation, an integral part of the villages in the province of Macerata.

The name DIASILLA comes from a custom widespread throughout central Italy that satirically reworks the Latin text of the 'Dies Irae' by Tommaso da Celano. During the Eucharistic celebration, it was misunderstood by the speaking community and mispronounced into a single word. In the Marche region, this was used as a parody of the sacred text, aimed at social relations and community cohesion.
